My name is Jennifer Doerr and I am the founder, owner, and operator of Wise Owl Tutoring. I am a certified K-6 teacher with 13 years of teaching experience. I obtained my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. Go Pirates! My greatest pride and joy is my family. I am married to the love of my life, Scott. Wise Owl began as a way to keep my love of teaching alive while staying home to raise my family, and has blossomed into my dream come true with the creation of the Wise Owl in June of 2016. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved learning. My goal in life is to share that joy with every child that walks through the doors, and I hope to do that for many years to come!

Hi, my name is Heather Concepcion; I’m excited to be joining the Wise Owl Tutoring team. I'm originally from Connecticut (and have lived in 5 states), but I moved to North Carolina from Florida. I’m happy to call Cary, NC my home since 2018. I truly love the weather here in North Carolina...having the four seasons again is amazing after the years spent in the blazing hot sun of Florida. I have a 13-year-old daughter, Olivia, who is studying to be a professional ballerina here in North Carolina which is the reason for our move to the area. I have been teaching for 10 years now, mostly as a first and second grade teacher; however, I have also taught sixth grade ELA. I am currently teaching third grade at Triangle Math and Science Academy in Cary. I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree as well as a degree in Elementary Education (both earned at Florida Atlantic University) and am certified/licensed to teach K-6. I look forward to working with students, either one-on-one or in a small group setting, to help them meet, and challenge them to exceed, their academic potential.

I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC and my graduate degree in Instructional Technology from AT&T University in Greensboro, NC. I began my career at Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh before I transitioned to Githens Middle School in Durham where I was nominated for the teacher of the year award. After 4 years, I then accepted a position at TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children) where I worked with a diagnostic and consulting team to families and teachers. After 7 years, I decided to return to my first love of teaching and taught at Grimsley High School in Greensboro for 11 years. I then transitioned to Carter High School in Winston-Salem, NC where I taught for 5 years before moving on to Lowrance Middle School, also in Winston-Salem for 2 years before I finally retired. Shortly afterwards, I packed up and moved back to Raleigh to join a 2-year ministry school at a local church. I enjoy reading, cooking, and arts & crafts projects. I consider myself a life-long learner and am looking forward to helping your child achieve the joy of learning as well!

Hello! My name is Melissa Tullar and I am very excited to be joining the Wise Owl team. I am certified in 6th-9th grades math. I am currently teaching 7th grade in Wake County, I have four years of experience, and have previously taught 6th grade and Math 1.
I am originally from Southern California and moved just south of Raleigh in 2014 to play softball at Campbell University (Go Camels)!
I love teaching math! It was my favorite subject when I was in school and I enjoy sharing that passion with students. My goal for each student is to feel confident in their math skills and not back down from a challenge. My favorite saying is “ We are all math people. Step 1, be a person. Step 2, do math.” When I am not teaching or tutoring you can find me at the local craft markets, farmer markets, or a Hurricane’s Game. I look forward to meeting you all and working together.
Hi! My name is Melissa Dolle and I am excited to join the Wise Owl tutoring team and help students succeed and love learning! I am a certified 7-12 social studies teacher and am originally from New York. I received my Bachelors Degree from SUNY Geneseo and Masters from SUNY Stony Brook. I taught middle and high school Social Studies for 16 years before moving to North Carolina in 2013, and staying home for a bit with my own children. As my kids grew up though, I missed teaching adolescents, and so I returned to the classroom in 2016. I love helping to make learning, especially historical events, connect to students’ lives.
When I am not teaching or tutoring, I can usually be found cheering on my kids’ soccer games, marching band or dance competitions. Otherwise, I enjoy traveling with my family. This past summer we took a much postponed trip to several National Parks and historic sites in the Southwest!
I look forward to getting to know students one on one and helping them reach their goals and full potential!
